Closing Doors

Sometimes we spend so much time asking for new doors to open…

that we forget some doors have to close first.

And sometimes closing doors feels like loss.

Like disappointment.

Like endings we didn’t plan for.

Like walking away from something familiar before we know what comes next.

But maybe some doors close because life is trying to move us forward.

In this reflective episode of Dr. Davina’s Dots, we quietly explore the uncomfortable but necessary experience of closing doors.

The relationships we outgrow.

The habits we can’t carry anymore.

The versions of ourselves we slowly begin to release.

Because sometimes what’s next cannot enter our life until something else leaves it first.

This isn’t about rushing change or pretending endings don’t hurt.

It’s about reflecting on how closed doors often create space for new beginnings.

So if you’ve been standing in front of a door that no longer feels right…

or grieving something that once felt important…

Take a breath.

Slow down for a moment.

And come reflect with me and lets connect the dots together.

[00:00:00] Welcome to Dr. Davinas Dots, the show for anyone who loves inspiration. Every episode blends uplifting messages and the soothing sounds of jazz, so you can connect the dots in your life. Hello and welcome to another episode of Dr. Davinas Dots. As we begin today's episode, here's something to reflect on.

[00:00:27] We often ask for new opportunities, new beginnings, new directions in life, but what if the very thing we're waiting for requires for us to let go of something first? In today's episode, we're reflecting on the idea that some doors must close before others can open.

[00:00:46] If you've been feeling stuck between where you've been and where you're trying to go, this episode is your gentle reminder that sometimes moving forward begins with turning the page. You're listening to Dr. Davinas Dots. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

[00:04:36] Welcome back. You're listening to Dr. Davinas Dots, your show for reflection and relaxation. There's something we don't always talk about when it comes to growth. We love the idea of new beginnings, new opportunities, and fresh starts. But many beginnings only happen after something else ends. And that's where it can get difficult.

[00:04:59] Because closing a door in life, not a physical door, but the door to a season, a situation, or even an expectation, isn't always easy. It requires honesty, acceptance, and sometimes requires letting go of what we thought would be. Think about reading a book. You can't start the next chapter if you never turn the page. And yet sometimes in life, we find ourselves rereading the same chapter, hoping the ending will change.

[00:05:29] But growth doesn't happen there. It happens when we turn the page. You are listening to Dr. Davinas Dots. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. I'll be right back.

[00:05:43] Dr. Davinas Dots.

[00:14:16] Connecting the dots in your life. Dr. Davinas Dots.

[00:18:58] Hi, this is Mary Cross, independent artist, singer, songwriter, and stylista. One of the greatest treasures is positive motivation through words and music. And when I want to be inspired, I enjoy listening to Dr. Davinas Dots with Dr. Davinas Smith. You'll be glad you did.

[00:23:11] ...is coming up next, right here on...

[00:23:13] Welcome back.

[00:27:05] You're listening to Dr. Davinas Dots, your show for reflection and relaxation. Think about nature. Trees let go of their leaves every year because seasons change. Life moves in seasons too. Opportunities change. Relationships evolve. Plans take different directions. And sometimes, closing a door doesn't mean something went wrong.

[00:27:34] Sometimes, it simply means it's time. Time to release. Time to trust. Time to step into what's next. Closing doors can feel uncomfortable. Sometimes, it feels like loss. Sometimes, it feels like giving up. And sometimes, it feels like we're leaving something unfinished. But not everything unfinished is meant to be completed the way we imagined. You are listening to Dr. Davinas Dots.

[00:28:03] Sit back, relax, and give yourself space to breathe and reflect. I'll be right back.

[00:28:10] Welcome back.

[00:36:56] You're listening to Dr. Davinas Dots, your show for reflection and relaxation. There's something important to understand about life. New things need space. If your hands are already full, it's hard to receive something new. If a room is crowded, it's hard to rearrange it. And the same is true for your life. Sometimes, we try to hold on to everything. Every role. Every expectation.

[00:37:24] Every version of what we thought life would be. But in doing that, we leave no room for what could be. Closing a door creates space. New opportunities. And space for peace. The kind that comes when you're no longer trying to carry everything all at once. What feels like an ending may actually be an invitation. An invitation to walk forward and gently close the door behind you.

[00:37:52] You are listening to Dr. Davinas Dots. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. I'll be right back.

[00:52:01] Welcome back. You're listening to Dr. Davinas Dots, your show for reflection and relaxation. As we come to the end of this show, here's something I want you to take with you. Not every closed door is a loss. Sometimes, it's redirection. A quiet shift. A gentle nudge. A necessary step towards the next chapter of your life. Over time, you begin to see. Life moves in seasons.

[00:52:29] And closing doors is just part of the process. It's not the end of your story. It's just the turning of the page. And some things can only begin after something else ends. You are listening to Dr. Davinas Dots. Don't go anywhere. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the show.

[00:59:50] Thank you for listening to Dr. Davinas Dots. Helping you connect the dots in your life.
